36th Annual Commemoration of the Martyrs of Central America & Colombia

Sunday, November 6, 2016
4-8pm on Sunday, November 6, 2016
Beaumont School 3301 N Park Blvd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118

On December 2, 1980—four US women (including Cleveland’s Jean Donovan and Ursuline Sister Dorothy Kazel) paid with their lives for deciding to stay in solidarity with oppressed and marginalized peoples, despite political turmoil in El Salvador.

Join us as we mark the 36th anniversary of the martyrdom of four church women in El Salvador: Jean Donovan, Ursuline sister Dorothy Kazel, and Maryknoll sisters Maura Clark and Ita Ford. For the past 36 years, the InterReligious Task Force on Central America has called together the people of northeast Ohio to walk in solidarity with oppressed peoples of Central America and Colombia to achieve peace, justice, human rights and systemic transformation through nonviolence. We recommit ourselves to this solidarity, inspired by the powerful witness and sacrifice of the church women

Keynote Speaker – Marlen Sánchez, National Coordinator of Agroecology for the ATC (Asociación de Trabajadores del Campo) from Nicaragua

Event will include social hour, sit down dinner, and interfaith service.
