This weekend is Father's Day.
Tragically, far too many fathers are being separated from their children--as they travel north from Central America, as they cross into the US, as they are apprehended by ICE authorities, as they are held in separate detention centers, as they are deported. We are looking for ways to keep people in NE Ohio mindful of these atrocities, and to place in front of them the values and teachings of their faith traditions that speak of loving the neighbor, welcoming the stranger, and walking in justice and mercy. With this in mind, on Saturday, June 16 at 1pm, Pilgrim Congregational Church is hosting an interfaith prayer service in support of undocumented families. This event is sponsored by a network of local organizations, including IRTF.
The program will include music, an opening prayer, readings from holy texts, a responsive litany, and (possibly) remarks from a young father who is living in sanctuary.
Whether or not you are able to attend, please keep in touch with us as you strategize your own advocacy and public witness efforts that depend on folks to show up and be counted!
