On Thursday, August 27th at 7:00 p.m. EDT, we will gather to commemorate the 1981 massacres in San Francisco Angulo and Lomas de Angulo and hear reflections from our recent 40th Anniversary Delegation to El Salvador.
During our delegation, we visited the community of SFCO Angulo and learned about their continued struggle. We also had the privilege of meeting with various community leaders and human rights defenders, who shared their experiences and perspectives on the current reality.
One message we heard again and again was the importance of commemorating massacres as a way of preserving our memoria histórica (historical memory)–honoring those who were lost and keeping their stories alive for future generations.
Please bring a candle to light in memory of the martyrs. We will reflect on the current reality in El Salvador, honor the resilience of its organized communities, and discuss how we can strengthen our solidarity with the Salvadoran people.
